Medica 2016 Dusseldorf
Date: 14/11/2016 – 17/11/2016
Venue: Messe Dusseldorf
Dusseldorf is the biggest city and the capital of the German state North Rhine-Westphalia and 7th most populous in Germany. It is one of the business, financial and transport centers of the country. Five companies from the Fortune Global 500 are headquartered in Dusseldorf. Thanks to its network of highways, harbors, airports and railways the city is very well connected to the rest of Germany. Messe Dusseldorf is located in the northwest part of the city and is relatively well connected to the city center of Dusseldorf. The easiest way to get to the fairgrounds is by the so called U-bahn which is part of the Rheinbahn. The lines which operate the area from the city center to the Messe Dusseldorf are U78 and U79 and the fairgrounds are reachable within 20-30 minutes.
Medica 2016 is one of the busiest trade fairs in Dusseldorf and the accommodation options are extremely limited during the main dates of the fair. The hotels in Dusseldorf are not very numerous and a big chunk of them is the small family type hotel with an average of 15-20 rooms. Only one hotel is located within walking distance to the fair ( Tulip Inn Düsseldorf Arena – Superior ) but it is extremely challenging to find free rooms there during trade fair periods.
Our first advice would be to stay in the city center of Dusseldorf close to the Hauptbahnhof ( central station ) but the rates of the hotels there are still very expensive. If you are on a tight budget the best option would be to stay in Duisburg which is located on 25-30km to Dusseldorf but still on the U-bahn line so the travel time is around 40 minutes. Many visitors and exhibitors choose to stay in the very city center of Dusseldorf which is the so-called Altstadt but the hotels in that area are extremely expensive.
